Foiled again!!

My plans for a crafty weekend were somewhat put on hold after I went to use the sewing machine and a lot of smoke came out of it!! I will go and look tomorrow for a new one. I know I should have it fixed but it is almost 15 years old and not even really mine, just a loan from a friend who never wanted to see it again. It would be nice to have a brand new one. The first new one I have ever used!!

Pearly Bundles

I have made a couple of pairs of earrings the last few days and I really love these ones. They look like little bundles of pearl grapes. Fiddly but they look awesome on. Luckily my hair is finally long enough to tie back so you can see them. I am planning to have a very crafty/arty weekend this weekend so hopefully will have more to post next week. Hooray for weekends, it felt like this week would never end!

A Beautiful Day

Okay, sometimes I don't hate my job as much as others. Yesterday was the most fabulous, sunny day and I got to drive around our beautiful city taking photos for a few hours. It was magical and I felt so good! I just wish it was something that happened a bit more often...sigh.

A Perfect Spring Weekend

The trip to Christchurch was great. Had a fun time catching up with my mum and Tracy. Beautiful weather and a lot of eating, drinking, laughing and criticizing mum's driving!

I have just created a font out of my handwriting. Now this took a few goes (can't believe how bad my handwriting can be) but finally it worked. Its this cool website I found, Fontifier, and for a few dollars (American of course, and the Visa takes another hit!) you can have a font of your handwriting. Very cool. Right back to work...

Another Blog for Dogs!

Here is another custom dog portrait. TradeMe is good, getting lots of views and requests for portraits. It takes so long for the painting to come together and it isn't till I step back right at the end that it actually looks like the dog. Scary but fun.

And another week begins...

Had a really great weekend but even the extra day on Friday didn't help make the weekend seem any longer. I did this 'Bubbles" painting on Saturday, I love the texture and the colour is even more vivid in real life. Will probably try selling on TradeMe.
Anyway here I am back at work and the new manager starts this week... things may get interesting from here on in. It will be funny to see how she wants to run things.

Beauty Myth

Have started reading a really good book, The Beauty Myth by Naomi Wolfe. All about how the quest for beauty is just another political tool for keeping woman repressed and controlled. Now we have equal rights in politics and the workplace, we earn more, have more power and more choice, do women feel better? No they don't... this new form of control has taken over to make women feel badly about themselves. Very thought provoking. Still didn't stop me spending an hour on the treadmill though...
