A Great Weekend!

What a great weekend, it was so relaxing, I just wish it had been longer. We went for a great drive on Saturday, we drove all the way out to the headland to watch the albatross flying round. We walked around on Pilot Beach and even saw a seal sunning itself on the rocks. The weather turned a little rough so we headed home and had a delicious roast chicken for tea. All in all it was a good weekend. Can't wait for the next one!

(OPPS) SUNDAY : RED

Portfolio

Having decided I really need a new job and having read a new inspirational book, How to be a Graphic Designer without Losing your Soul, I decided to update my portfolio. I am going to house loose sheets of my work in this hand-made case. It is covered in some beautiful gold, red and purple paper I got from Trade Aid.

SATURDAY : AQUA

Skulls, Roses and 100 Posts!

Here is my newest pendant, made from some goodies that came in the weekend from etsy, my tribute to rock and roll, which will be perfect tomorrow night when we go and listen to Luke's band play.

And remarkably, this is my 100th post! It comes round really quick. I'm really grateful for everyone who drops by and reads this, I hope they find it at least a little bit interesting. And to show my appreciation, the first person to leave a comment will get a little something in the post!

THURSDAY : GOLD

Letterpress Earrings : SHOP UPDATE

Am just about to update the shop with these four pairs of earrings created from the vintage letterpress numbering wheels (mentioned here) I got at work. Combined with delicate crystals and wire, they are a nice combination of cold hard machinery and delicate femininity. They are in the shop now.

TUESDAY : BLUE

MONDAY : PINK

V8's & Early Morning Road Trips (Or what we got up to this Easter)

We finally got the 351 Windsor fired up on Thursday night and then (much to the delight of the neighbours) ran in the cam on Friday afternoon. It was the first worked engine I've ever started and what a rush! The noise, the smells, the glowing flows! I think I may be a little bit addicted! Shane was so excited to finally have it running, we have been waiting a long time. Now to start on the other one!

It was a very early morning road trip up to Timaru to see my granddad and Mum on Saturday. It was beautiful driving by the coast, the weather wasn't great but the sun was trying desperately to peek through the storm. The reflections on the inlet were stunning!

And that is what we got up to this easter (well Sunday I spent house cleaning and doind many, many loads of washing but the photos weren't that exciting!) Hope you had a great Easter too!

I Want Candy! (Part 2)

After yesterday's post I was a bit more open eyed about my surroundings and I realized I am attracted to and do use those colours in my everyday life! I might pay a bit more attention to the colours in my world and do a post each day about different colours, so stay tuned for todays colour.

I Want Candy!

What better way to spend Easter Sunday then watching dvds and eating chocolates, it's all very decadent! I watched Marie Antoinette, which was a pretty average film but just visually stunning. The costumes, the sets, the shoes, the jewelery, the hair. It was a feist for the eyes! And what an inspiration for more paintings and drawings. I'd love to do something with these rich jewel and candy colours.

CRAFT Inc. - New inspiration!

And I found this book too. I know everyone has already read it but I have wanted to for a while and when I found it today, combined with the fact my job is going down the drain and that I've started selling on etsy, I decided it might be a good bit of inspiration for a rainy afternoon.

My very first Moleskin cahier!

I know I seem like I am the last person on earth to get these little beauties but I only just found somewhere that sells them here in Dunedin! I could hardly believe my eyes. I have so many things to put in them too but and a bit apprehensive as I don't want to ruin the first pages!

The New Camera

I know I have already mentioned the new camera but thought I should be a little more specific. It is a [pink, of course] Fujifilm Finepix Z10fd. It s cute, small, matches my phone and takes not bad photos. Its never going to replace my Canon 300D SLR but it was never supposed to. I just wanted a camera which would fit in my purse so I could capture everything!

Old Letterpress Numbers

Our printery is shutting down and they were throwing out all this great stuff, I managed to rescue these great vintage letterpress numbering wheels. Some of them are so intricate and beautiful. There are even some that have a little brass 'O' that moves in and out. I couldn't let them head to the tip so I saved them. I'm thinking they might be great for some jewelery after a little cleanup and smoothing of any rough edges.

A new print and a new camera

My new print from PinkyToast arrived on Saturday and I used my new camera to take this shot of it in it's new home (next to my ScarlettCat print). There has been a lot of photo taking whist getting to know the new camera. But its pink and it fits in my handbag (in fact it is no bigger then my phone!) and I love it.

Buttons anyone?

My buttons/badges (so hard to decide what to call them) arrived yesterday in the post, as well as a coupe of other goodies, but this was definitely the icing on the cake. I love them! They look much better then I hoped. There was even a little extra fridge magnet in there! This is them all packed up and ready for the shop, which should be open on Friday! (fingers crossed!)

Its like someone is watching my life!

I get this cartoon everyday and it is spooky how it so often relates to my life! Always gives me a little chuckle in the morning which is exactly how I want to start the day.
