Poster Sketch - Ninja

It's pretty hard to get a treasury on Etsy, but it's pretty simple to make up a poster sketch!
Shane loves ninjas so this one is for him (but there's some things I'd love there too!).

Shh... it's a secret!

Here are a few things you might not know about me...

1.  I'm almost 29 but still feel about 18!

2.  I hate tomatoes but love pasta sauce, tomato soup...

3.  I do love having a cat but I am forever and totally a dog person.

4.  I've started therapy and I love it (should have gone years ago!)

5.  I dream of quitting my job and becoming an artist

6.  I lost over 30 kilo's (66 pounds) and kept it off but can't lose anymore

7.  I hate wearing rings! And even though I'm engaged but it still feels strange wearing a ring

8.  I love blogs but they sometimes make me feel small and not good enough

This was totally inspired by Elsie's and Silje's secret posts.

Style School Catch-up

Style School finished last week and I'm kinda sad that I didn't get to finish as much as I wanted to. Life just kinda had other plans (new dog, health issues, holidays) and I didn't really find the time or inspiration to make things.

But there are still a few things that I would really like to try and do so I thought I would make a list and I'll check them off as I go:

  1. Pet button collar
  2. Quote pillow
  3. Crochet Headband here
  4. Fancy Pants
  5. Upcycled Camera Bag
  6. Poetry Lamp
  7. ACEO's and Pocket here
  8. Stitched cardigan
  9. Style School Thesis
  10. Finish my Style File
Hopefully I'll be able to just chip away at these and I'll finally get back in the habit of making things again!

Home Again

We are home from our little anniversary mini break in Queenstown and it feels good to sleep in my own bed again. The holiday was great, weather was fabulous, food yummy and the company not so bad either. But it always feels good to come home. Dunedin had a pretty bad forest fire on Wednesday which they are still battling to put out but the smoke did cause some beautiful light which I promptly took advantage of.

Can't wait to get started!

So excited to start this class next week! Vivianna from Polka Dot Robot is running a fantastic artjournalling class. I haven't done any art journalling for such a long time and I'm really looking forward to getting back into it. If you hurry over here you might still get a spot! I'm gonna start making my journal this weekend, maybe even tonight!

Little Hearts for everyone

I managed to get an evening of peace the other night and I wanted nothing more than to create. Something small and easily finishable.

So I made a little felt heart brooch for my friend Hannah. It was so quick to finish and looked so good, I decided to make one each for all the women in my office. Each hearts colours were choosen specifically for each lovely lady and they all coordinated remarkablly well with their outfits the next day. I even have orders for more!

A new girl is on her way!

Little Cassiopeia Spice is (hopefully) winging her way to me as we speak! She is so pretty with lovely golden blonde hair and a cute little fringe.

She also comes with a little camera which is just too perfect!

I really do love Summer best!

So it turns out I'm a Summer. More specifically, a Soft Summer. Much like these ladies...

Which means I look best in these kind of colours...

Which is handy, because I love the colours and already have a lot of them in my wardrobe.
I do not, however, look good in black (damn) which means at least half my wardrobe has to go.
I would love to replace it with these...

I might be dreaming but dreams are free!

Just Love-ly

This tutorial on Design*Sponge is just perfect. I might have to give it a go for Sunday.

A good Mail Day!

It really was a terrible day yesterday, busy at work, two hour delay at doctors, blood tests and a headache. But when I got home last night, everything suddenly got better (until it got much worse again*).

Mail, and lots of it. Good mail too.

I got my fabulously cute fabric from ikoplus which arrived super quick and is even cuter in real life!

My cute tights arrived from Sock Dreams, now this was amazingly quick postage, only a few days which is almost totally unheard of between America and New Zealand. Plus the tights are lovely!

And the lovely Debbie sent me the most fabulous little cardigans for my Blythes. They are so cute and considering she didn't have a doll to fit them to, they are pretty much perfect!

I do love a good mail day.

*I then proceeded to get an upset stomach from dinner and attacked by the cat which left me covered in bandaids and crying in the bathroom. Today is going much better.

Wardrobe Challenge Update: Week Three

I did wear colour, a lot for me, which seems to be mostly pink. I just didn't do so great at taking photos, I only managed three days. And I am almost a week late in posting them.

So week four is a bit of a wash really. Haven't set any challenges and haven't worn any colour. That's right, none. I've been feeling grey and wearing grey all week.

I have a plan though.

I am having my "colours" done on Saturday (will post photos and details later) but I will definatly set some challenges based on the findings for next week.

Macaroons (Take Two)

Another one off the list.

So I made macaroons. They were not easy. I followed the instructions exactly. Aged egg whites, sieved almonds, mixed till it flowed like magma. And I still only managed to get one tray to come out right.

Was it worth the effort? Not really. They look pretty and I got some good photos. But I'm not really that fond of them. Now I'm sure if I was eaten a professionally baked macaroon whilst standing under the Eiffel Tower in Spring I might think differently.

But I tried, eventually succeeded and now I can cross it off the list and be done with it. I don't think I'll be making them again in a hurry. Good luck to those of you who want to try. Here's the recipe I used.

Inspired by... Luci Everett

Luci Everett is a graphic Designer from Melbourne, Australia. I adore her use of handmade elements and hand drawn designs. Her muted colour palette is refreshing, calm and centred. In a world of flashing computer animated design, I am so drawn to this very textural, handmade work.

You can see her flickr photostream here. Found via Design in Mine.

I want to curl up here...

Its so light and colourful and peaceful. I think Lily and I would both love a little nap here right about now.

Wardrobe Challenge: Week Three

This week I am going to cut myself some slack. Not strict rules. Except...

I MUST WEAR A LOT OF COLOUR!

And take some photographic eveidence.

Wardrobe Challenge Update: Week Two

Week Two was successful again, except I don't have much photographic evidence so you'll have to take my word for it! It was hard enough getting up early to walk the dog and then managing to get dressed without falling asleep to even manage to remember to take photos. Maybe next week!
