It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

I had a vague idea that I wanted to make some ornaments for the tree this year, I also knew that I really wanted to used the MERRY JOY set from Kellie Stamps to do it. I just wasn't quite sure how. I wondered if you could "stamp" onto clay, and it turns out you can!

I used some neon red Sculpty clay, and a light touch with the stamps and it worked perfectly. I started by rolling out my clay, lightly pressing the cutter shape into it as a guide, gently stamping in the appropriate places (and I also used my powder tool to stop any sticking) before cutting fully with my cookie cutters and baking. I suggest a bit of practice first as it took me a little while to get the right stamping pressure. Afterwards I cleaned my stamps with a bit of soap and water and they were right as rain.

Next, I did a bit of Christmas prep by making some gift tags to top my presents. I grabbed a few bits of scrap paper, some dies and the MERRY JOY set again. Then I had myself a merry little time stamping and cutting and embossing and putting these together. Keeping everything in a tight colour-scheme helps it look cohesive but you could just as easily try it in a variety of colours.

A simple way to add a festive touch to my gifts this year.

And if you didn't manage to get your hands on the MERRY JOY clear stamps, you can always try the digital stamps! I printed and cut out this title to up-cycle a gift bag. I used some old tissue paper to cover up the logo on the bag then added some sparkly paper, my title and some twine. A simple idea for wrapping and an easy way to re-use an old bag!

My super simple Christmas cards

Last year I didn't even get cards made, let alone sent. So this year I'm going super simple to give myself the best chance of getting it done.

I used the digital version of the MERRY JOY set from Kellie Stamps and a cute photo of Lily. Combined the two in Photoshop, printed as many copies as I thought I might need (luckily, I can always print more!) and popped them in some bright red envelopes.

So apart from adding some personalised messages to the back, I'm done. In October. The magic of digital stamps.

Holiday Cards

Have you been following along with Kristina's Holiday Card series this year? I normally do but this year Christmas has just crept up on me and life has been a bit too hectic. But this past weekend I did get a chance to have a go at recreating a few of my favourites. They didn't all work out how I intended, but I am happy with the results. These will be going in the post to some special people shortly!

Holiday Cards :: Week 9

Its the last week following along with Kristina Werner's Holiday Card series. Only one card this week to make a total of 25 holiday cards. I've really enjoyed myself making these cards and trying to stretch my stash. I'm pretty sad that I finished all these cards before I got my hands on what might be my favourite holiday stamp ever, but I'm sure it'll make an appearance soon. So here it is, the last holiday card of 2014...

Of course, I couldn't help myself and had to make one more after I saw this awesome tutorial for what might be the easiest shaker card ever!

Holiday Cards :: Week 8

Another week following along with Kristina Werner's Holiday Card series. Three pretty simple cards this week and only one more card to go! I'm excited to start sending these guys out. Here are my Week 8 cards...

Holiday Cards :: Week 7

Another week following along with Kristina Werner's Holiday Card series. Still finding my lack of holiday stamps a bit of an issue but I have resisted buying anything extra. Here are my Week 7 cards...

Holiday Cards :: Week 6

I'm still following along with Kristina Werner's Holiday Card series. I found it a wee bit challenging this week with my limited holiday supplies but found that by using the idea behind the card rather than the actual product, I could still get pretty great results, even if the cards aren't exactly the same. Here are my Week 6 cards...

Holiday Cards :: Week 4

I'm still following along with Kristina Werner's Holiday Card series. This week I jist couldn't find my card-making-mojo and I ended up redoing every one of these cards 2-3 times until I liked them! Here are my Week 4 cards...

Holiday Cards :: Week 3

I'm still following along with Kristina Werner's Holiday Card series. Still loving this project, I can't wait to see them all at the end! Here are my versions of her cards from Week 3...

Too much?

Lily had her holiday haircut and came back all jazzed up for Christmas, but I think I was more excited about it than her. She just wanted to eat it!

A wishlist a mile long...

I managed to get all my Christmas shopping out of the way yesterday so this morning I've spent a bit of time wandering the internet looking for things to put on my wishlist and here is what I came up with...

Eskimo Magnets - set of two-and-a-half!
$24.00
The Memory Makers 2013 4x6 Calendar
$24.00
Afternoon Tea No. 3, The Sloth (orange)
$86.00
Kiwiana Garden Art TIKI
$60.00

The last glimpses of Christmas

I've taken down the tree and vacuumed up the glitter. Christmas is over and I am ready for the new year.
Here are a few final glimpses of our lovely day (disturbing how much food is involved in these photos!)

Now I have to get busy packing a bag and making my resolutions for next year. I'm still trying to come up with a new word too.

Merry Chirstmas everyone!

Have a wonderful day filled with yummy food, great company and lots of twinkle lights!

Lots of lights

We had to do a little bit of searching but we managed to find the best street in town for Christmas lights. I even remembered to take my camera!

I can't wait to have the kind of house that I can cover in twinkle lights and blow up santas!

A little more Christmassy...

It's been getting a little more Christmassy around here. Candy cane lights and tinsel and sparkly decorations and candles. Lots of candles.

Four days to go!
