Happy List

A couple of weeks ago, Kaylah made a list of simple pleasures. I was having a pretty bad day yesterday, so I decided to take a leaf out of her [note]book and make myself feel better by focusing on some happy stuff instead.

The list worked great. But what really made me happy was this ...

Turns out my little Melly has a bit of a stationary thing as well.

Happy news!

I really can't believe it but after two very long weeks, Melly Cat is back at home where she belongs. The silly wee thing made it all the way back to our old house! I had almost given up hope and then on Wednesday lunchtime I got the call to say she had wandered into her old conservatory looking for something to eat!

She is a little worse for wear but her surgery went well and she is recovering nicely, happy to be back sleeping on the bed and being covered in kisses!

Off to bed

I can feel a cold coming on so I'm taking a cue from the animals and heading to bed. Night.

Before the madness begins...

Early mornings can be a little bit fun, playing with Lily and Mel. Taking photos in my pajamas. Sitting by the heater, enjoying the quiet. Before the madness begins.

Have a great week!

A good Mail Day!

It really was a terrible day yesterday, busy at work, two hour delay at doctors, blood tests and a headache. But when I got home last night, everything suddenly got better (until it got much worse again*).

Mail, and lots of it. Good mail too.

I got my fabulously cute fabric from ikoplus which arrived super quick and is even cuter in real life!

My cute tights arrived from Sock Dreams, now this was amazingly quick postage, only a few days which is almost totally unheard of between America and New Zealand. Plus the tights are lovely!

And the lovely Debbie sent me the most fabulous little cardigans for my Blythes. They are so cute and considering she didn't have a doll to fit them to, they are pretty much perfect!

I do love a good mail day.

*I then proceeded to get an upset stomach from dinner and attacked by the cat which left me covered in bandaids and crying in the bathroom. Today is going much better.

Someone to watch over me...

Little Melly was keeping watch over us this morning, looking out at the world is one of her favourite inside pastimes.

Drawing Sunday

After being inspired by a fantastic artist I discovered on etsy, ScarlettCat, I decided to rework this drawing...

...into something a little more exaggerated and colourful on a coloured stock I had bought the other day. It turned out pretty good (maybe even a little bit of a self-portrait)...

And then I had to do a little portrait of Miss Melly, of course. This is her "I'm very cute so give me kitty treats' pose. It melts me every time.

What a night, what a storm (in my mind)

Last night we had the worst weather we have had for months! We turned on the electric blanket (have forgotten what cold feels like) and snuggled in to watch a DVD. We got about halfway and heard this drip, drip, drip. Yep, thats right the hallway had sprung a leak.

It was pretty much the last straw for me. I've been sick of this place for a while and noticing more and more the things that needed fixing. Even Shane had had enough. Right, we said, we are outta here. And spent the next few hours trawling the net looking for somewhere else to rent. We finally went to bed about 1.30AM but of course my brain was then on overdrive and I didn't get to sleep till about 3.30AM. My Miss Melly, of course, cares not for when you went to sleep, shes wants to get up at 6 either way. So I am exhausted.

And to make things worse, instead of spending the day like I had planned (arty, crafty and fun) we spent the day driving round looking at dumps, in really crappy neighbourhoods, for way more money then we can afford. So in the end we talked to the landlord about getting some basic maintenance done and the plan is to stay here. If they get it done. Which I am yet to see, they aren't exactly quick with this sort of thing, it took them nine months to come round to fix the garage doors (which we fixed ourselves about 3 days after telling them).

Enough moaning from me though, I just had to get it out. But I am cooking a delicious Roast Chicken Dinner for tea, I really need some comfort. Promise I'll be better tomorrow.

Curiosity Killed The Cat

Miss Melly looked very interested in the seagulls hanging out on the road, but once they flew off we realized our little Melly alley cat was much more interested in the garbage they were eating!

Someone else loves softies too!

Miss Melly loves the softies in the spare room. I caught her napping in amongst them yesterday afternoon in the sunshine. I hardly noticed her tucked in there!

Sleepy kitty (and Diane)

Its been so hot here lately and it is making sleeping almost impossible (especially when you share a bed with someone who insists on having the electric blanket on even in the middle of summer!) and from the looks of this, I aren't the only one who is feeling a bit tired this morning. Melly definitely was not going to be woken up or moved from her spot on the bed. I even had to make the bed around her. Shes such a lump, you can pick her up and move her and she doesn't even open her eyes. I'm sure she's convinced that if she keeps her eyes shut we'll think she's asleep and won't put her outside when we leave. And this morning she was so cute that I didn't. I wish I could have stayed home with her!

Such a sleepy kitty, she didn't even notice that she had fallen off the cushion! Oh for such an easy life.

Jess

From the photo you would think "what a cute puppy!", and while this is true, the angelic look on her face here couldn't be further from the truth. This was a very long weekend, sleep deprived, grumpy, on constant vigil for whatever the new mischief might be. Melly was not a happy kitty! I was exhausted by Sunday night. Got some good photos for a new painting (a possible xmas pressie for her full-time mum!) Thank goodness that is over. Visiting and playing = Fun. Full time = Grumpy Diane.
