Haven't we all felt like this at some point?

I know I sure am at the moment!

The road not taken...

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I marked the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

- Robert Frost

Still my favourite poem and it seems especially pertinant at the moment. And so I made a little gift for someone special who has been having a rough time lately too. A handpainted origami box with a typed copy of the poem inside.

I hope she loved it as much as I love her!
LOVE LOVE LOVE this sneak peek of Kirsten Voortman's lovely pink home! I want a home just like this. I'm pretty sure Lily would love a hot pink chair, not so sure about Shane though.

So colourful and happy and bright. I must be a bit bolder in my choices for our home. Or at least the bits I can get away with!

Getting me through...

It's been a tough few weeks and these are the things that are getting me through...

A Fine Fenzy's latest album Bomb in a Birdcage.
Have been listening on repeat non-stop for the last week.

Hugs. From Shane. From friends. From Family. Get them while you can.

Cupcakes. Normally don't love them but have been dreaming about them all the time.
The last batch I made were heavenly!

Puppy love. Honestly, nothing beats coming home to that waggly tail. Unending devotion.

Bed. Sleep. I think about crawling beneath the covers to that lovely, warm, soft, comfort each day.

Inspired by... Luci Everett

Luci Everett is a graphic Designer from Melbourne, Australia. I adore her use of handmade elements and hand drawn designs. Her muted colour palette is refreshing, calm and centred. In a world of flashing computer animated design, I am so drawn to this very textural, handmade work.

You can see her flickr photostream here. Found via Design in Mine.

Colourful!

Check out the colour in that wardrobe! I LOVE IT! I'd love for my wardrobe to be this colourful. It's so bright and cheery and having a separate lovely room for it is just the icing on the cupcake.

I want to live here...

... especially this bedroom. I wonder how Shane would feel about pink?

Weekend Plans

My plans for the weekend involve starting on my holiday organiser/december book. I got this great tutorial from Rachel at Smile and Wave and am going to combine it with Ali's idea of December Daily. I did December Daily last year but felt it was a struggle to do a page everyday.

This year I am going to combine the two. An organiser that will have some pages in it from special events/memories etc. That way I don't feel obligated to do something everyday just so I can put it in the book.

My colour scheme is either going to revolve around pinks, dark raspberry, lemon/lime, teal and neutrals...

Or yellow, orange, teals and blues...

Hopefully I will have some pictures to show you soon!

Finally, a spring day to be proud of.

Today the sun is shining and the breeze is light. I feel better, brighter. I took a stroll across the road and took some photos under the grove of trees. I love the colour of the light shining through the leaves. It is the exact colour of spring.

Today is the last day of Blogtoberfest. I have made it, I have posted at least once, everyday. It wasn't always profound or enlightening. But it was fun. I don't think I'll end up continuing to blog everyday but I'm pretty sure it will be a lot more regularly then I did before. See you in November!

How I know there is nothing wrong with you or me.

I really hate crying at work but this has definitly bought a tear to my eye. I'm going to print it out and keep it somewhere handy.
  1. You’re playing the game of life as best you know how, and trying to get better every day. You can’t possibly do someone else’s best, so there’s no point in stressing about it.
  2. You make mistakes like everyone else, which allows you to learn as you go. That means you’re doing what you should be.
  3. You’re unique, whether you’re introverted or outgoing, book smart or street smart, creative or technical—the list goes on and on. You’re the world’s only opportunity to know a person just like you. The only hope to share what only you can.
  4. There’s no such thing as the way you should be. If you do what you enjoy and don’t harm other people, you’re living a beautiful life.
  5. You will never become someone—you are someone right now, whether you influence millions of people or mean the world to just one person. Your impact is powerful, whether you realize it or not.
  6. If someone hurts you, you don’t deserve it. No one does. End of conversation.
  7. You feel emotions and respond to them. That’s the way this whole humanity things works. If you could stand to improve the way you respond, newsflash: you’re still like everybody else.
  8. You have a pulse right now, and it’s your choice what you do with it. There’s no right or wrong answer. (Unless what you want is to maim a puppy or something equally perverse.)
  9. You choose what you think is best, or else you wouldn’t choose it. As you get new information and grow stronger and smarter, you’ll make different choices.
  10. You are beautiful, inside and out.
