two days to go...

Trying to make an effort but failing miserably. I just want to be lounging about at home today. The sun is out and I don't want to be stuck in my little cubicle. I can smell the freedom of summer. I feel a bit like a kid waiting for school to let out. Torture. And I'm pretty sure that time has managed to slow down again. Like, really slow. And I'm sure the break will fly by so I must make a list (yes another list) of things I want to do this summer. Maybe I'll work on that today!

Is it sunny where you are?

It isn't here. Squalid and wet again. Not a great start to the week. I'm not sure why I struggle so much when the weather is bad but I do. Terribly. I feel downright awful.

If I could be anywhere else right now I would be curled up in my nice warm bad with a book and a hot choc.

Or stretched out on the beach at Surfer's Paradise with a book and a cold drink.
The photo above is from our first trip to the Gold Coast. What a magical holiday. Everything was perfect. We've tried to recapture that holiday a couple of times but nothing comes close.

I would love to go on another holiday right now. My (lucky) sister just left for Melbourne today. I am green with envy. Instead, I am here. Sitting at my desk, in front of my computer, in my fluorescent lit office, listening to the rain outside and working on financial tables for the Annual Report. Sigh.

Goodbye old friend!

I'll miss you "Terry"ably! Enjoy retirement, the place won't be the same without you!

Semi Permanent Sydney 09

Seems like while ago now but I am finally posting some photos from my trip to Sydney for Semi Permanent (which was great!) but the main highlight for me was the free time which involved a lot of shopping, sightseeing and gallery visiting. We had a blast and can't wait for next time!

What kind of creative are you?

This was fun. Not sure how they come up with the answers, it doesn't seem that scientific, but I thought it was fairly accurate. Found via How About Orange.

New Year, New Look

A little update to the blog is in order I think. So new fonts, header and colours it is. Mostly I am avoiding work so back to it I go.

Waiting to leave!

I am counting down the hours (really the minutes) til tonight when I can go home and not think about work for three whole weeks. I expect to become and much nicer, calmer person.

Pixie Town?

We took a walk to Pixie Twon yesterday. Turns out Pixie Town is less Christmas and more creepy wooden elves doing wierd stuff. Oh well, it got us out of the office for a while!

I'm Back!!

Semi-Permanent and my little break in Auckland was wonderful. I came back tired, inspired, hopeful and I find myself a little wanting too. I'm not sure what direction I am going to take but I know for sure that somethings are going to have to change. But for now a few random photos...

Leaving on a Jetplane...

Well, a small plane anyway. I am off to Auckland for a long weekend and the Semi-Permanent '08 Conference. And the best bit is, I don't have to pay! Work is shouting us this trip (thats the least they could do). I am so looking forward to it, I'm staying here, which has a tunnel directly to the conference (which is good because a lot of rain is predicted) and we get a $1 buffet breakfast each morning. It couldn't get any better. I won't have internet access so I'll see you on Sunday!

I'm sure everyone has already done this but here is mine. I love that the main words that pop up are 'really', 'great', 'Shane'. Unfortunately 'cold' is there too!
Here is a slightly brighter/warmer/happier colour palette!
Thats right, wasting time again. But I'm sick and at work and I don't want to be so I've been messing round with Polyvore and come up with these:

A Sunday Afternoon Garden Wedding

And an Elegant Evening Wedding

Don't know which I prefer, I will probably never be able to decide!

Monday's always go so slowly...

If there is one thing I feel a deep repugnace for, it is Mondays. Especially cold, dark, rainy Mondays in the middle of Winter. I am so over it!
Its lucky my engagement party is at the end of the week or I would have nothing to keep me here and I may have to flee somewhere warm!

The Invitation Saga is over!

The invitations have been designed, printed, inserted, addressed, stamped, sealed and posted! (after a very stressful time with the courier company who lost my specially ordered, on sale, robin red envelopes! Finally sorted, thank you Sue-allen.)

These are the personalized stamps I had printed for the envelopes...

The invitations all stacked together after being printed and trimmed. The are printed on heavy silver metallic card which makes the red metallic as well. They looked great all together...

Each invitation was personalized for the recipient, simple, bold, black writing on the silver card, each is about postcard sized...

I spent a great deal of time last night handwriting each address, return address, licking a million stamps (which look great and add a special touch but taste d-i-s-gusting!), and sealing down envelopes (another delight for my taste buds!), but finally they were all done and I had a satisfying little pile of invitations ready for mailing!

And at one point, I even had some help (begrudging) finding some addresses...

(thank you my love!)

Engagement Party's make me CRAZY!

Having never organized a truly proper big party before I didn't really know what I was doing or what to expect. But I never imagined it would make me this crazy.

The invitations! I am turning out to be my own worst client! I have done a million samples and I like them all but I don't love them. I'm just not exactly sure what it is I want, I want so many different things! I also have to word it exactly right. So many options, each subtly different from the last.

The only thing that worked out easily was buying my dress. I just very casually went shopping one lunch time and found a great dress, in my size, in a colour I love, marked down 60%. It doesn't get any easier then that. Why can't everything be that easy.

Don't get me wrong, I am so excited and looking forward to it. I just want it all to be perfect and it is stressing me a little. My boss, Dave, said "Just pick one, go with it, and then the stress will be over." Fair point really. So I ordered the matching envelopes (my second lot, the first lot I ordered before I had made up my mind so now I have 50 silver envelopes sitting in a drawer!) and I even ordered some custom stamps. Extravagant I know for someone trying to have a great party on a budget but have you seen stamps lately? Ours are so ugly that I couldn't see spending all this time and effort designing great invitations just to put ugly stamps on them.

Ok. Rant over. Back to work. Will have some photos soon, promise.

What makes a Friday even better?

PUPPIES!!
Today we had a couple of visitors in the afternoon, two gorgeous little Golden Retriever girls stopped by and played with us for a couple of hours. It definitely made the afternoon a little bit more fun.

We played so long they got a little tired and had to take a wee nap, all stretched out like little frogs, so cute! The other fell asleep on my lap as I worked, all panting and it's little tongue sticking out. Adorable. If we weren't renting I would of had to have taken them home.

Pages

Some pages I've been working on, apart from the catching up on Paper Adventure, and some little close-up details. Its been hard, I've hurt my back again, plus have a major cold. Not a fun way to spend a long weekend! Have been off work for two days but hoping to get back tomorrow, fingers crossed!

Our engagement night + details...

And Trina and I goofing off at work + details...

Goofing off

Some days I just can't bare being serious for a second longer and having a camera round provides a nice little distraction!
